LEGO Star Wars was released on April 5 , , a full month before the final Star Wars film premiered, which surprised most people since the game contains many spoilers about the movie.

While billed as a "kids game", it peaked at the top of the UK charts during early May , losing the spot to the official game of Episode III , but remaining on the rest of the month on the top spots of the chart. There are three possibly four known levels that didn't make it to the final release. Some, such as "Anakin's Flight", were practically complete. The remnants of these levels can be found with a thorough search of the install directory for the PC version of the game.
It is interesting to note that this would have given the game a total of 21 levels, 22 counting the bonus chapter. This level would have been the first chapter of Episode II. This is a mechanic that lends itself to various puzzles and situations throughout the game, such as doors require you to momentarily inhabit the servos of R2-D2 to activate, or objects need to be manipulated with the Force by Obi-Wan.
At all times you're pretty much battling through wave after wave of bad guys in a manner similar to the old Golden Axe style, either lightsabering their limbs off, blasting them to bits, or using the Force.
All the while you're collecting 'studs' and exploring the meticulously crafted world for hidden extras. Other than the brilliant sense of humour on display - the developer really playing with the whole concept of seeing beloved Star Wars characters in toy form, even to the extent of making Jar Jar Binks seem acceptable - one of the best aspects of the whole game is this concept of collectability. As you unlock levels, you're rewarded with key characters to use in Free Play mode, the part of the game that lets you revisit completed levels with different characters to find hidden bonuses.
As you build your collection you can examine your hard-won gains in the midlevel cantina' holding area. Because each level sees you playing with two or more characters, simply plugging in a second joypad and joypads are really essential for getting the most out of the thing and hitting P2 Start lets you play in co-op mode. It works a treat too, especially for some of the more climactic boss battles such as the one with Darth Maul at the end of Episode I.
The kind of game that slaps a big, dopey grin on your face from the moment you start, keeps it there throughout and leaves it there for a good few hours after you finish. Except that the grin actually lasts longer than the game does. Yeah, that's right, you can see what's coming as clearly as if it were wearing a great big sign above its head.
A flashing sign with neon lettering, followed by an even bigger sign pointing out the first one's existence just to be sure you don't miss it. I hate having to write it. You're going to hate having to read it. But it's unavoidable, so we'd better all just grit our teeth, get through it as quickly as we can then meet on the other side for a quick debrief and a pint to console ourselves. Here goes: as much as we all absolutely love the concept at work here, as well as the execution, the sheer fact that from an actual gaming perspective there's almost little if any proper challenge and that you can feasibly complete the whole game - including bonuses - in less than a day simply has to count against it.
Hence the lack of any shiny award logos anywhere on these three pages. It's a ride, pure and simple, which is no bad thing, but at 30 of your English pounds, it's a hell of a steep price to pay for such a limited amount of fun -however joyous that fun may be while it lasts.

Following the battle, Gunray is arrested by the Republic, and Palpatine is elected Chancellor. A funeral is held for Qui-Gon, attended by the other Jedi, who contemplate that there is still one Sith remaining since there are always two of them.
In return for saving his life, he helps them find their way to Otoh Gunga to speak with the Gungan ruler Boss Nass so that they can ask him to help the people of Naboo. Narrowly avoiding an assassination attempt upon her arrival, she is placed under the protection of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker. Obi-Wan's search leads him to the mysterious ocean planet of Kamino, where he discovers an army of clones being produced for the Republic under the name of Sifo Dyas, a deceased Jedi Master, with bounty hunter Jango Fett serving as their genetic template.
Obi-Wan meets with Jango, who reveals that the clones were the idea of a man called Tyranus. Obi-Wan deduces Jango to be the bounty hunter he is seeking, and after a brief battle, places a homing beacon on Jango's ship, Slave I. He then follows Jango and his clone son, Boba, to the planet Geonosis.
Watto reveals that he sold Shmi to moisture farmer Cliegg Lars, who then freed and married her. Cliegg tells Anakin that she was abducted by Tusken Raiders weeks earlier and is likely dead. Determined to find his mother, Anakin ventures out and finds her at the Tusken campsite, still barely alive. After she dies in his arms, an enraged Anakin massacres the tribe. Obi-Wan transmits his findings to the Jedi Council but is captured by Separatist droids.
Dooku meets Obi-Wan in his cell and explains his role in the Confederacy of Independent Systems' formation, while implying that a large portion of the Galactic Senate is under the control of his new master, Darth Sidious.
Meanwhile, Senate Representative Jar Jar Binks proposes a successful vote to grant emergency powers to Chancellor Palpatine, allowing the clone army to be authorized. Dooku sentences the trio to death, but they are saved by a battalion of clone troopers led by Yoda, Mace Windu, and other Jedi.
Windu beheads Jango during the ensuing battle. Obi-Wan and Anakin intercept Dooku, and they engage in a lightsaber duel. Dooku injures Obi-Wan and severs Anakin's right arm, but Yoda intercepts and defends them. Dooku uses the Force to distract Yoda and escapes to Coruscant, where he delivers the plans of a super-weapon to Sidious, who addresses him by his Sith name Darth Tyranus.
