But this might be a pretty big game for Bill Belichick -- if the Pats lose this game, they could fall to the seventh seed, which would mean a road game against the Chiefs in Wild Card Weekend.
So the Pats are motivated for that and, of course, for the division. A full touchdown with an aggressive defense at home is just too much in this division matchup. Probably leaning under on this game at anything above The Saints are the way more desperate team here, so they make sense as an obvious play. But they're not Taysom Hill and this offense can't generate much of anything.
The Falcons are a bad football team and finally eliminated from playoff contention. Atlanta's been blasting bad teams and losing to good teams by a ton -- the lone exception is the victory earlier this year over the Saints. The Falcons are going to care about this game because they can help knock their most hated rival out of the playoffs. The Cardinals are coming off a huge win but this might very well be Russell Wilson 's last game with the Seahawks.
Arizona is playing for the division, but Russ is def playing to remind everyone how valuable he is when the offseason trade rumors get going. The Cards may very well win this game, but it's kind of tough to imagine the Seahawks just going away with this big a spread.
Monday, p. Massive, massive game for both teams. The Rams can win the NFC West with a win over the 49ers, regardless of what happens with the Cardinals although they can still win the division with a loss, if Arizona loses, too.
The 49ers are in a similar position with even higher stakes: a win guarantees Kyle Shanahan's team a playoff berth. San Francisco can still get in with a loss and a Saints loss, but that's leaving way too much to chance. I wouldn't bank on that being a plan, but it's still possible. The 49ers have had the Rams' number the last few years and I'm getting more than a field goal, which makes this a no-brainer for me. The other potential tie situation in play that people are all worked up about.
If the Jaguars beat the Colts the part of this we're all ignoring , the Raiders and Chargers could take knees for 60 minutes. And the players would never be willing to just take knees for four quarters.
Derwin James might be the key here -- he's gotten in full practices so far this week so is tracking to be good to go. If the Chargers are less than a field goal, I want them, otherwise I'd lean the Raiders. It should be a close, high-scoring game. By Will Brinson. The Atlanta Falcons wrapped up a dismal campaign with a tough defeat to division rival New Orleans Saints in Week 18 proceedings. After missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year, the Atlanta-based team will now shift its full focus to the offseason where several moves are expected to be made in a bid to improve the roster in In a game where the offense failed to gain momentum, Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo stepped up and had timely contributions to put up points across the board for the team.
The Korean national went perfect on two attempts including a yard field goal conversion against the Saints. Elite RT Ryan Ramczyk finally returned after missing seven games and had a dominant outing. New Orleans dictated the pace of the game, holding the ball for 71 plays and converting 8 of 16 third down chances. The Saints picked up yards on the ground, averaging over 4. Their offensive line not only had terrific push at the point attack, but opened up crucial cutback lanes for their runners.
The line also provided exemplary protection for their quarterbacks. Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian did not get sacked and often had plenty of time from the pocket. Atlanta wasn't even able to record an official quarterback hit on 27 dropbacks by New Orleans passers. The Saints recorded three sacks and 9 QB hits on Ryan. Atlanta was held to just 62 yards rushing, including a paltry 14 in the first half. While linebackers Demario Davis and Kwon Alexander played active roles, the Saints controlled the line of scrimmage with their defensive front.
It was Jordan's 23rd career sack against the Falcons and his 15th in the last nine games against Atlanta. Defensive tackles David Onyemata and Shy Tuttle consistently blew up interior blocking all afternoon. The Saints defensive line disrupted Atlanta's offensive continuity throughout the game, but DE Marcus Davenport stood out most. Just putting this out there: Foye Oluokun finished the season with tackles, the 7th most tackles in a single-season in NFL history.
The de factor WR1 for the team had a rough start to the season. He goose-egged several games and was a drop machine in others.
Gage led the team with 9 receptions on 13 targets for yards and a touchdown. He may have played his way into a bigger contract, though it may be with another team.
Yet, he somehow managed to pass Eli Manning on the all time TD list and kept his 20 TD per season streak alive as well.
